Potential phone scam. Receiving random text messages.

Last night I received a text massage saying “awakie awakie”. I replied saying I wasn’t even going to pretend like I knew who it could be so I let it go. I got another message a few minutes ago that said “Don’t stress out! plz I said I will fix it up” to which I replied with a joke about them shitting the bed. Almost immediately they call me and all I could hear in the background was chatter which sounded like a group of Indian guys on the phone, the guy who made the call said nothing and hung after 5 secounds. I may be wrong but I wanted to put this out there in case anyone else is experiencing the same thing. Anyone here ride a fixed gear/internal hub bike as a commuter?

Getting that excellent and entirely useless relocation scholarship in a few weeks and have allotted myself $1500 all up to buy a decent commuter bike with all the extra bits (good lock, parts, front basket, multi tool, tubeless tyre setup, stand, helmet etc) and i’m considering a Lekker Amsterdam in 7 speed because I’d ideally like something I can upgrade and rely on for 5+years. I’m yet to see anyone ride a fixed gear in my (St lucia/Taringa) area and I think the substantial hills are a reason.
