Brisbane future traffic congestion with driverless cars

Edit TLDR: I like thinking about the future instead of working. Since congestion and traffic is hot topic in Brisbane. I read some article on how driverless cars will affect our lives. I then looked at the statistics of Brisbane traffic and car consumption. This is a good article on USA Predictions on driverless cars. I thought I’d see how that measures up against Brisbane statistics. Seems like in 10-15 years Brisbane congestion will be very different. Some interesting thoughts: cars will be a service and not owned by the household. reduction if congestion, traffic, noise, accidents. This will affect car industry, insurance industry, public health. Here are the stats: In Brisbane, if 10% of the registered cars were driverless, they could replace all the passenger vehicles on the main road corridors of Brisbane in AM peak period. 128600 of cars are travelling on the main corridors in AM peak

I have no idea what I should do with my life (long post)

Before I drive into the nitty gritty here is a little bit about me. I am a 26year old male, I am not in the best shape physically or mentally. I am working to better this though (I am trying to lose weight and am on meds for my anxiety and depression, been major improvements in the last 6 months), nobody can change that except me. I don’t do well in the heat at all and I am unsure what I want to do with my life (job wise), I have all these dreams and aspirations but I do not know how to achieve them as they all cost money and I don’t know what line of work I will enjoy doing day in, day out. I dropped out of school in year 11 with a year 12 equivalent (cert 3 IT) I am looking for some help in choosing

Just gathering everyone's thoughts on the private health care premium increase.

Just did the figures and I will end up paying about $5000 a year to my private health insurer. If I was too pull out and just pay the medicare surcharge apparently I would only be slugged an extra $3500 in taxes. Jesus fucking christ government , stop giving low income earners all these tax breaks, health cards and discounted rates and utilities and help middle Australia out. Hope to see this as a story in tomorrow’s Courier Mail. submitted by /u/Aussienaut [link] [comments]
