Push to change 'Straddie' to Minjerribah

North Stradbroke Island is a popular getaway for many Queenslanders. But the traditional owners of the island, the Quandamooka people, hope it will soon become better known by its Aboriginal name of Minjerribah. Supporters are comparing it to the successful campaign to have Ayers Rock renamed Uluru, saying Minjerribah better reflects the ongoing connection the Quandamooka people have had with the island for thousands of years.
