A Reminder for White's Hill Reserve Users

According to two wildlife carers I met near the Reserve this afternoon, one of the Reserve’s five remaining Pretty Faced Wallabies (also known as Whiptail Wallabies) was mauled by an off-leash dog in the Reserve last week. Both the wallaby and the young joey it was carrying had to be euthanized. This was not the first time this has recently occurred either, a few months back I had to intervene to stop another dog attacking a wallaby near Pine Mountain Rd. In this case, the dog’s owner wasn’t even in sight and was wandering off track nearly a kilometer away. Given how fast Brisbane is growing we are pretty lucky that we still have areas of undeveloped bushland like Whites Hill Reserve so close to the CBD. In addition to the wallabies, the Reserve still has a small population of koalas however both these species will not be present much
