Medical certificate for driving – no GP

I’ve emigrated from the UK and I need to get a QLD drivers licence sorted. I have a permanent eye condition in one eye (other is fine) which means I need to get the Medical Certificate form filled in as well as my application, it has sections for my ‘treating doctor’ and an optometrist to fill in. I have a letter from my UK eye specialist stating I’m fine to drive which was enough for UK DVLA but the Aussie obsession with forms means I’m gonna have to do this whole process. I don’t have a GP at the mo (Medicare woman fucked up typing my details in so it’s delayed) so can I just find somewhere to walk in so a doctor can sign my form and let me on my way? It’s all so unnecessary submitted by /u/Geosurferdude [link] [comments]

Possibly coming down for riverfire tomorrow, any tips?

After always forgetting about it or not having time, I’m currently thinking about making a last minute decision to come to brisbane for riverfire (first time) with a few others. We know when all the flypasts and the fireworks are, but I don’t know much more than that. We were thinking about maybe getting there at around 9-10am so we can spend the day in the city. Is there any special stuff going on (food stalls, performances) etc during the day to keep us occupied? I presume all the places like Southbank, Kangaroo point, Riverside near ferry terminal, etc will be packed, so any places that are perhaps less popular but still have a good view? If we were to go in one of the more populated areas to watch, how early do we have to get there? What’s traffic like after the fireworks? We’ll be driving there. submitted by
