What are we doing to our community /r/Brisbane ?

I’m not sure how to really word or approach this, but lately, in my eyes we haven’t become a very positive or cohesive community. Maybe it’s just me, but I want to make sure and see if anyone else feels the same way as I do and ive been feeling this for some time. As some of you may remember I spent a good part of the last couple years being overly chatty and organising some of the non official reddit meetups across Brisbane. While we haven’t had one in quite a while, no one else has bothered to step up to the challenge and to me, I feel that’s been a blow to our community. Who wants to go on a date?

So I need to go on at least 1 date to fill my new years resolution, I’m a 26yr old male healthcare professional, I own my own house, I have two puppies, so I do alright! Any audio nerds about?

I just bought some old speakers that are returnable if I’m not 100% happy with the sound quality. I however don’t currently have an amplifier. I’m wondering if there is any one out there who would like to come over with a decent amplifier for a audio nerd out session with me and my record player? Couple moving to Brisbane next week, in need of a flat!

My fiancĂ© (30M) and I (25F) are moving to Brisbane in about a week. We are on a 1 year working holiday visa from the U.S. and we are having some difficulty finding a place to live. We will both be working full time and are looking to spend about $300 a week or less for a furnished flat. We would love to have flatmates or make some new friends at the same time, but anything works. We are both friendly, very tidy, non smokers. My fiancĂ© is a gaming nerd and I enjoy yoga, a few drinks at the pub with some mates, etc. I have been using gumtree, but it seems that as soon as I inquire to a flat it becomes ‘unavailable’. Is there something I’m doing wrong? I don’t currently have an AU phone number so I’m worried that is scaring people away from even responding.

Looking to get a small segway like vehicle for simple to and from work transport. Tips?

Basically just looking for something small and (cheap if possible…) for general work commute. Roughly to be used around 5 kms per day.
