Moving to Brisbane soon – neighborhood recommendations?

Hi all, My girlfriend and I are moving to Brisbane from the states for 2 years starting in September. It is too early to lock down a place to rent, but we are interested to see what kind of neighborhoods we should look at before the search begins. Some background: we are both in our mid-20’s and would like to be relatively close to downtown. We plan on sharing a furnished 1 bdrm apartment and looking to spend no more than $400/week for rent. If possible we’d like to be close to bars, coffee shops, restaurants (the more beer the better). Thanks in advance and we can’t wait to move to your beautiful city! submitted by /u/Reckoner84 [link] [comments]

Lost keys in Northgate

Hey guys, I know my chances are very slim here but I lost a set of keys this morning in Northgate or nundah. No car keys, just all door keys. I’ve checked with most places close to where I lost them and have had no luck so far. Also, what do you guys do when you lose keys? Just get new ones cut or replace the locks? And does anyone know where they might have been handed into? If you found keys, what would you do? Any help is appreciated. 🙂 submitted by /u/dinkforever [link] [comments]

Bridging Fence gaps for privacy

I live in a middle townhouse. Each side fence has roughly 1cm gaps between palings and the back (adjoining unit complex) has around a 2cm gap between palings. The townhouses either side of me are unoccupied and i would like to put this privacy measure in place asap so it’s not awkward during occupancy. I would like to undo all the palings and put them back together so there is no space, then add any additional ones needed to bridge whatever gap is left at the end. To do this, I would have to gain access to one of the courtyards as only one of the fence’s nail side faces me. In terms of the back fence, that would also require doing this work from their side due to the same issue. I have researched privacy screening options (including plants) but they seem costly and don’t look appealing in the

What do you think about Stoners

I am in no way trying to promote drugs but I would like to know people views on Stoners. I always see two types of stoners and they are the ones who can act normal and still talk and act like they are not high at all and have the common sense with them, always see them buying takeaways but are always friendly and there eyes are bit red but they pull it off like they not high at all. Then there is the ones who you see making so much noice while walking and they slur alot with their words and are plain annoying. Love to hear your opinions. PS: I have nothing against stoners as a lot of my friends are hardcore stoners, just wanting to see what other people in brisbane think. submitted by /u/grandpazeus [link] [comments]

Hello Brisbane! I'm back after [gulp] 20 years and need a car… LEASING recommendations

Hi there, I won’t bore with details but after living in the usa and uk for 20 years I’m back in my (very much beloved) hometown and OH MY GOODNESS CARS ARE SO EXPENSIVE. I don’t have a lot of money up front to spend on a car but need one desperately. Therefore I am thinking of leasing one. I am a useless girl who has no knowledge or interest in doing anything other than finding a reliable, easy to look after, boring sensible car so any recommendations are helpful! Anyone had any good experiences? I can probably afford about 500 a month, but that is about it. If anyone has recent experience with this please let me know about it because I don’t want to get shafted and yet I do need to get a car relatively soon. You simply can’t get by in this town without one. submitted

Any Optus NBN users in the Logan area? What is your upload speed like?

I’m currently on Cable (100/2) but the upload speed is causing a lot of problems (especially when gaming) and I’m looking at switching to the NBN. However, a family member is concerned that upgrading to the 100/40 plan isn’t actually going to help with the upload speed during peak hour. There is also a $15 increase in price (the plan we are currently on isn’t offered anymore) and either of us are interested in paying that if we aren’t going to get any benefit. So my question to anyone in the Logan area, what is your upload speed like? I’m mainly looking for Optus users but I’m happy to hear from anyone on the NBN. submitted by /u/Harry3343 [link] [comments]
