Transfer interstate car registration

Hi guys, my aunt just gifted my partner and I a car from NSW and we live in Brisbane. I just got it transferred down to our house and now have to do all the paperwork that we have never done before (never owned a car). I have been researching all day but it all seems so confusing in regard to how a car is registered. What are the steps that we have to do? So far, she has sent us the filled in Notice of Disposal and a letter saying it was a gift and that it now belongs to us. The NSW registration won’t expire until December this year. Questions: 1. Do I have to re-register immediately now that it’s in QLD? Or can I keep the NSW registration and wait till it expires? Do I have to transfer registration in NSW and then transfer again in QLD??
