Teachers of Queensland, how well do mainstream schools cater for students with autism?

(I’ve posted this to the Australia sub, cross-posting it here). I tutor a 13-year-old student with Aspergers Syndrome. He’s moving to Queensland early next year with his family. What is set up for mainstream private schools which accept students with autism? Do schools make decisions about whether they will accept the student based on how far they are on the autism spectrum? Do the students have to have letters from medical professionals or undergo an interview with school staff? Are there special teaching assistants at these schools who provide assistance? Or are most schools generally under resourced when it comes to these staff? Sorry for any stupid questions, I genuinely don’t know the answers. Any advice is appreciated. submitted by /u/volcaniccat [link] [comments]
