I just want to put some context into the life of a bus driver and how real of a problem there is that exists with safety and acknowledgement from the employers that more needs to be done. I speak for most Brisbane bus operators, BT, Clarke’s, Surfside, Transdev, Hornibrook, Sunbus, Thompson’s, having contacts with long established colleagues from those groups who all love their job and have seen the happenings in their own group. Manmeet’s murder is not the sole driving force behind these strikes, it did strike a strong chord to all the drivers who’ve been spat on, punched in the face, knocked unconscious in the drivers seat, or the vast scope of other agressive behaviour (windows shot at, knives pulled on them, held up, objects thrown at them or the bus, windows/doors smashed etc).
