Female here – admitting that I’m hopeless with car related issues, and thankful for any advice. I know enough to know that the alternator on my Mini Cooper is kaput and the almost brand new battery isn’t retaining charge. Car is currently abandoned on my residential street. Can just anyone (like Lube Mobile etc.) replace my alternator or is it ‘special’ because it’s BMW parts and the access to the alternator is a bit squishy etc.?? Should I know anything else before I display my ignorance to a mechanic, for exploitation?? Recommendations would also be welcome, if you’ve had a good experience with a mobile mechanic!
