I have ADHD (and have since childhood), and used to take Concerta for it back in 2011. However, I decided in 2012 to try living med-free and managing my ADHD through behavioural techniques. Behavioural therapy helped, but I have gotten to the point where I am caving and want to go back on concerta, it is just too difficult to get by without it. I was looking back through r/brisbane to see if anything had changed legislation-wise since I was last on it, though, and found this: “GP’s can’t prescribe ADD/ADHD medication. Only psychiatrists, and there’s a specific subset of psychiatrists, that are able to actually diagnose you and then get you onto them.” This is correct, once you are subscribed that drug in Queensland you are also locked to the same psychiatrist for the next two years (he/she is the only source for scripts for you).
