Muslim community defends plans to build multicultural hub

Muslim people in Brisbane’s southern suburbs are trying to allay community concerns about a proposal to build a multicultural hub in the area. The Australian International Islamic College at Durack has applied to expand the school and build a new mosque, residential and retail buildings on its land. Some locals oppose it on the grounds of zoning and congestions issues, but some others, including people outside the community, are concerned it will increase segregation.
