Does anyone know what was happening at the City Gardens around 5pm today?

I rode by on my bike and didn’t want to stop as there were people everywhere. A whole heap of police were down on the river bank just as the Eagle St boardwalk ends as you go into the Edward St garden entrance. It looked like a man was stuck in the river or they were helping to get someone out or something. A fire engine had already arrived and I heard an ambulance arriving as I went through. Any info to satisfy my curiosity would be great 🙂 submitted by /u/WildFlowerVW [link] [comments]

Anyone want to grab a beer with a Finnish guy over for his sister's wedding? [12th or 13th of July]

I’m a 28-year-old Finnish dude bloke coming to my sister’s wedding in Sunshine Coast. I’m flying to Brisbane first 12th of July morning and staying for a few days for some shopping and waiting for my parents to fly over to continue on north with them. Anyone want to meet up for a beer or two some evening? I’d love to meet some locals and get to know this strange and exotic culture my sister is marrying into. submitted by /u/suvitiek [link] [comments]

City like a new world

A couple momths ago I was put up in the Meriton for a wedding, stayed for 1 night. Even though I have lived in Brisbane for 19 years I have never really walked around the CBD. I went for a walk and laid down in Wickham Park for a rest after walking up the steep terrace. Even though it was the hottest weekend of the summer, I felt so comfortable. In that moment, there was no place I’d rather be. Brisbane really is a beautifully, clean and uncrowded city that I hope to explore much more. submitted by /u/fuckseppos [link] [comments]

Lost Samsung Galaxy 6

I found a Samsung Galaxy 6 around Caxton Street on Sunday morning. I tried to hand it back to the carrier to pass it back to the owner, however they wouldn’t take it. Unfortunately the sim was disabled and it had a pass code lock so no point me holding onto it. If you or your friend lost the phone, feel free to PM. If you can describe the screen saver and colour of case I’ll let you know which police station has it. submitted by /u/IgnotoAus [link] [comments]

Anybody have any experience with using Viagogo?

I wanted concert tickets for a concert in the Netherlands that sold out in a few minutes when it first went on sale. I had no chance of getting them initially, but I was excited to see them on Viagogo and immediately bought them there. Contrary to what the media has said about Viagogo, the tickets were very reasonably priced and only slightly above the initial face value of the tickets and the Viagogo fee wasn’t excessive. I am however slightly worried that I’ll never actually receive the tickets as promised or that the venue will reject the tickets. Does anyone have any experience with tickets they’ve bought on Viagogo before? Any good experiences? I don’t mind taking the risk as I’m in Europe at the time anyway but what do you think my chances are of actually getting the tickets? submitted by /u/magpie1862 [link] [comments]

Photographers of Brissy

Hey guys and girls, So instead of looking for a big meetup like I see all the time, I was just looking for like one or two people to actually make a couple of friends with and go out shooting here and there. Been shooting for a few years now, am currently studying photography, and would just love to make new friends to not only shoot with but hang out and grab a beer with. Share perspectives and shooting styles etc. Have done a lot of work with animals but am always down for late night drives to good spots and could use someone to hang out with. If anyone is keen i’m a 24 y/o male, running with a canon 600D – would love to hear from you! submitted by /u/apommeinbris [link] [comments]
