What options are available for my girlfriend and renewing her visa?

I met a girl 4 months ago who was on a study visa and her visa is expiring soon which is hopefully going to be renewed as she is continuing her study. However I’m trying to figure out what my options are if for some reason it gets denied or for the future as the renewal will only be 6 months due to the cost. I’m aware of the work visa which as she has a degree in accounting could be a great option if she can find something, however what are my other options if that doesn’t work? It seems de facto is not an option as you have to live together for 12 months and that won’t be happening for quite a while. Any suggestions would be great! submitted by /u/homingconcretedonkey [link] [comments]

Finding an estranged parent; is there a process?

This is harder to write than I expected. Basically, I’m looking to somehow find and make contact with my long lost dad, no “down the road for a pack of smokes, never to return” stories. I’ve heard stories from a relative or two over the years about him shifting around in western QLD and BNE for the better part of my life but they were always skint on actual details. The guy would be ~72 at present, so I’m not looking to give him a heart attack or anything but I figure that if I’m ever going to do this, before he dies is probably the best time. Has anyone had experience doing the same thing? submitted by /u/Mercness [link] [comments]

Outstanding tax returns :(

Hi Gang! So I may have a little problem with the taxman. There was a period of time where, for one reason or another, I neglected to complete my tax returns. I’ve finally grown up and am trying to fix these past mis-deeds. Has anyone been in this situation before and can offer leads on tax agents that aren’t going to rape my wallet to complete the returns? TIA submitted by /u/MC_llama [link] [comments]

Any acoustic or sound engineers about?

I recently purchased a townhouse (1996 construction shared walls) and am having issues with the neighbours sound system (subwoofer) coming in to my loungeroom as a ‘boom’ sort of reverberating ‘felt’ noise… Traffic sound, airplane noise, barking dogs etc don’t bother me but this is hard to ignore as you can feel it. It means I can’t enjoy my tv or quiet reading time. I have spoken to the neighbours and they are very reasonable but even with their sub turned down the noise is very audible and felt in my home. I spoke briefly to a company, who were very nice and helpful, that sells ‘barrierboard’ … Which consists of two sheets of differing thickness gyprock separated by an insulating layer that acts as a decoupler. These sound proof panels are available in two sizes, 2400×1200 and 2700×1200. Unlike standard plasterboard panels, the composite Barrierboard product is rigid, ensuring

Brisbane aviation people (GA), where do I find you in the wild?

Im currently a student pilot and have no plans of going beyond PPL. Is there a community/club/group out there for someone like me? I’d love to meet others to expand my circle and no doubt learn countless amounts of invaluable info.. Every other hobby/sport I’m part of has distinct and easy to find groups to be part of but the same doesn’t seem to be true for GA? submitted by /u/Atheizt [link] [comments]

Sharing a Go Card..?

I’m needing to travel into the CBD every day for the next month, and plan on doing so via train. My sister in law has a student Go Card registered in her name, with a considerable balance and has offered it to me for next few weeks. If I were pulled up by Transit Officers, what are the chances they’d ask for my ID? Is it worth the risk? submitted by /u/lipsticklxsbian [link] [comments]
