Hey Brisbane! I'm a Canadian girl doing a solo Reddit couch tour of Australia on a motorcycle. I'm performing at The Retro Bar, Kenmore, Oct 11 at 8pm (actually a comedian), does anyone live close, who could put me up tomorrow? Feel free to vet my username :)

I really am a comedian haha proof I’m doing a free comedy show so don’t have lots of money for accommodation so any favours would be amazing!! If anyone wants to come along it’s Oct 11, 2071 Moggill Rd, Kenmore, starts at 8pm, and will be my first time in Queensland 🙂 Edit: stayed with Redditors in Canberra and Sydney, you are my people! submitted by /u/Michelle-Christine [link] [comments]

Abandoned houses/lots in Wooloongabba/East Brisbane?

Always wondered why there’s so many abandoned/poorly maintained houses and blocks in the region, much much more as compared to other suburbs? I guess the type with peeling pain and a really overgrown lawn. Also I don’t think these are due to being used for property developments due to the sheer number of them as well as how long they’ve been there for, some also seem to be occupied as well just in a terrible condition. Thanks! submitted by /u/NaYeahMate [link] [comments]

Optus mobile coverage in Brisbane – any good?

I’m considering switching away from Telstra to Optus for mobile – drawn by the lower prices, zero-rated data for music, and the fact that Optus isn’t Telstra. Telstra has been good over the past year, but we tend to keep to the CBD, Paddington, Ashgrove, and that kind of area; so the enhanced coverage in the middle of nowhere isn’t that useful to us. My guess is that coverage is pretty good for everyone in the city, and I’m going to buy a cheap SIM just to check coverage at home – but are there others using Optus/Virgin here, and have you spotted anything I should know about before I switch? submitted by /u/jamescridland [link] [comments]

CPL with the new VET FEE

Recently the VET FEE loans were changed to a max of 15k a year. I was looking to get my IR/CPL/FIR through an RTO under the 99k VET FEE loan. So now I’m not sure where to go. I know there’s some Griffith B.Av guys on here so I was looking to get some advice – apparently the actual flight training is the flight management diploma? Is that through VET FEE? I know the Bach is fully covered through FEE Help so the diploma is my only worry – I have no money to fund CPL hours. What flying school do you guys currently use for the diploma training?
