How likely am I to find a job without actually being in Brisbane?

Going to be moving down next year for uni but would like to get down there earlier than that. I have an RSA and RSG and experience with A/V and Bump in/outs. I’m currently employed with an AEG Ogden company so there is the possibility of working at the Brisbane Convention Centre, but that isn’t 100%. I’ve been told that what some people do is get signed up with as many roadie/A/V companies as possible and get a decent amount of shifts, but ideally I’d like to find something that provides me with reliable work. Should I just save up as much in my current job and go on the dole when it gets quiet where I live? Should I hold out till the last possible minute and go on uni youth allowance and find a job then? Moorooka/Rocklea advice

Anyone able to give me an insight onto these two suburbs?
