Chermside siren
It’s kind of fucking annoying. Is it the ambos just testing their sirens or something else? submitted by /u/Actual54 [link] [comments]
Decent places for Xmas lunch.
So my dads coming down this year for Xmas and my wife’s pregnant so we decided we’ll go out for lunch. Only issue is that it’s either $140-170 or has a bad rep. 2 years ago I went through the Broncos and paid $99 which was great but rumours abound that they have new management and it’s a bit shitty now. I’ll gladly pay $89-120. Does anyone have a place that they recommend? submitted by /u/MrDOHC [link] [comments]

Brisbane I love you.
Hi Brisbane. Some of you may remember this post I made a while back. Well I’ve got an update and today I finally resigned from the job and accepted a job at another company. It’s worked out fantastically for me because it’s a significant increase in pay as well. The downside is that I have to cancel the holiday I had planned but I think it’s irrelevant compared to the massive pay rise I’m getting. I can’t believe I’ve finally escaped that place. These flies are driving me crazy!
Seems to be a fly invasion across Brisbane the past week. It’s like I’m standing in the main street of Charleville, but I’m standing on Edward Street CBD. Same thing at home, Northside. submitted by /u/gtr73 [link] [comments]
Planes with lights on
If you live somewhere under the Brisbane Airport flight path, you might have noticed that planes coming into land after dark turn on the super bright headlights as they turn onto their final approach (somewhere down near Algester). It has got me wondering what purpose those lights serve? I can’t imagine that they cast much light on the airstrip itself from that far away, and I suppose that the airfield itself is lit up pretty well in any case. And if it’s just to improve visibility of the plane as it comes into land, why aren’t radar and the regular navigational lights sufficient? Does anyone have experience with aircraft movements and know why the lights? submitted by /u/hU0N5000 [link] [comments]
