Rochedale south / springwood ISP advice wanted.

Hey /r/brisbane I’m moving into a house that is technically in Rochedale South but it is right on the border with Springwood. Our ISP options include both Optus and Telstra cable. I have done some reading and have encountered many complaints about Optus cable slowing down to 3mbs during peak time in the Rochedale South area. On the Optus forums and here on the subreddit people have said that infrastructure upgrades were pending and should have taken place by now. Can anybody on Optus comment on this and just in general about average speeds and how peak hours effect your internet? Ultimately, if we are reasonably sure that the service with Optus will be unsatisfactory our plan is to save a cancellation fee and go straight with Telstra. Thanks guys! submitted by /u/somethinglikejesus [link] [comments]

For the plane spotters of r/Brisbane

I know r/Brisbane has a few plane spotters, so I thought I’d let you know that tomorrow, over ramblers drop zone at toogoolawah, a C-17 globemaster will be dropping 100 civilian skydivers from 13000ft agl (four pases of 25 jumpers each). We’re jumping to raise money for legacy. Provided the weather is as good as the bom says, we should be dropping around 10am. Spectators welcome, and there is a cafe in site, as well as a pool. submitted by /u/inserthumourousname [link] [comments]

Fun things to do on a monday for a foreigner?

Long story short I promised a friend of mine living overseas that I’d help out his friend who’s living in Brisbane if she ever needed anything. She wants to do something but I’m not a local (I live near brisbane). Any suggestions? Ps, I’m looking for something to do either at night or on a monday because of work. submitted by /u/thetastybeggar [link] [comments]

Best student lodging option near QUT

Hello all, first reddit post here, heard I can get some pretty good insight I’ll be moving to Brisbane to attend QUT in semester 1 2017 and I’m in a conundrum of choosing where to live. Right now I’m looking at: UniLodge South Bank, UniLodge on Margeret, Iglu Brisbane City, Urbanest South Bank, Unilodge @ Shafston. I’m looking for advice on which of these to choose or if there are better alternatives. As a start point, I would prefer to have my own room, so a studio or apartment is what I would choose. If you all could help me out in deciding which of these could get me the most bang for my buck in terms of room size and what the complex has to offer (gym, pool, facilities, quality of room, amenities, community of students, what the surrounding area has to offer in terms of food, nightlife etc).
