I just need to vent about Yeronga for a second.

God damn it half an hour before the primary school kids were let out there’s some woman overdosing outside of the half way house which is on the main corner. For fucks sake demolish the place and rebuild it somewhere out of the sight of primary school children. I am so fucking sick of seeing bongs and needles around the place. Little 5 year olds walk up and down those roads and they’re exposed to shit like this? I just think it’s really poor form by the housing commission to locate the house so close to a school and on the intersection of two busy roads submitted by /u/bigbadbobbyjr [link] [comments]

Anyone looking for a housemate? Know somebody who will be soon? I'm looking for a chill place to move into any time in the next 4-5 weeks

Hey /r/brisbane, I’m a 30y/o laid back yet introverted dude, working part time and studying at uni. I keep to myself a lot of the time but am also looking for more of a ‘home’ than just a house, where everyone gets along with each other and treats the place and each other with respect. My budget is flexible depending on the place, my ideal price would be around $160, max would be around $200-220 if it really ticks every possible box for me. Here are the basic aspects of what I’m looking for in a place: – Close to UQ, or fast easy access to UQ (20-30 mins max travel time). So anywhere close to a busway stop like Holland Park, Greenslopes, Buranda etc would be great. I have no idea what transport is like on the opposite side of the river like Bardon, Ashgrove, Enoggera etc, but as

When should one call the cops on a weekday party in Brisbane?

Scenario: uni students across the road keep having loud parties at night. I’ve been good and let it slide the last few times as I recall what it’s like to not have to go to work on a Friday morning but they now they’re out on their balconies shouting during the week late into the night meaning I can’t sleep. Is there a general rule of thumb of how long one can party loudly on a weekday? Experiences? Cheers! Edit: was going to go talk first before calling cops. Was trying to gauge what people thought was an appropriate time Edit 2: they quietened down at 10:30, so all good submitted by /u/loggerheader [link] [comments]

An Open Letter To The Two Cyclists I Almost Ran Over This Week.

I’m sorry. Cycling is rad, it’s healthy and takes cars off the roads. It’s not even that obstructive in traffic in town. Sure, I get frustrated when I’m stuck behind one of you charging up a hill and I’ve had to grind back into first, but it’s not that long out of my day in the grand scheme of things. But, Cyclist number 1, who charged around a round-about late at night, think about investing in a better headlight? I know you can’t see shit on the road with that thing, and you blended right into the lights behind you. Cyclist number 2; maybe wearing all black clothes and riding a black bike in the early morning light is not the greatest idea? I’m sure you understand what I mean. Now, I”m not out to be a dick, but you should try to minimise risks from a human factors perspective,
