Cheap interstate move

Im going to be moving from Brisbane down to Melbourne at the end of Jan, and am trying to find a way to move all my stuff. Currently got about 3 bedroom amount of stuff to move. Cheapest I’ve found so far is hiring a truck, driving my stuff down, then driving the truck back and flying out. That’s gonna cost me about $1800 (including fuel and flights). Anyone got any suggestions? submitted by /u/tempest_fiend [link] [comments]

Coldest parts of Brisbane, year round?

The weather in Brisbane is often lovely but unfortunately I’m one of those fellows who doesn’t cope well with the heat. I’m moving soon and want to find the best (read: coldest) part of Brisbane. I’ve found this map of the SEQ region that roughly highlights what I’m trying to find out on a suburb level: http://www.bom.gov.au/water/nwa/2011/seq/media/figC7_map_seq_anntemp_lx.png Is there a particular suburb that often gets a nice breeze to counteract the heat or a ridge which is colder due to it’s elevation? Alternatively, what are the hottest parts of Brisbane? Let me know so I can avoid those parts! submitted by /u/Yetamot [link] [comments]

Part-time/Casual work for Students?

Hi r/brisbane! I’m moving to you from Canada in about a month to start a Masters of Counselling program at UQ. I’m wondering if anyone has any advice for good places for students to work casually while going to school? Anything mental health-related would be ideal (I’ve worked casually at shelters and addictions centres in the past), however I’m open to anything/anywhere that’s student-friendly/flexible! submitted by /u/B_Nitch [link] [comments]

Does anyone use Mojo Power for their home electricity? Are they good?

Their promises seem great, and the smart meter that would let me keep a close watch on what I’m actually using would be fantastic. However, with anything like this I’m pretty suspicious of big promises. Cheaper rates and better technology… Is it another industry disruptor like Uber, or is it a pretty face on a dodgy service? Does anyone use them? Have any recommendations or advice? Thanks http://www.mojopower.com.au/ submitted by /u/MyUsernameIsRedacted [link] [comments]
