QPS, want to make some easy money?
People are back at work and it means lots of people driving their cars into the city. Every single day I note the large amount of cars that block intersections aka “blocking the box”. The intersection of Leichhardt street and Little Edward and also (and more annoyingly) Turbot and Edward Streets are two I come across regularly. People usually turning into Edward from these cross streets end up not making it and sitting in the middle of the intersection. The lights change, and no one can move. Enraging! I note that entering a blocked intersection has a max penalty of 20 units (see Section 128 of the Transport Operations legislation). If a penalty unit value is still $121.90, QPS could be rolling in the dough if they had an officer sitting at these two intersections during morning peak hour. Usually I’m not a big fan of the excess policing, but

Busy dog parks in Brisbane?
Hey all, I’ve recently adopted a pound pup who has some pretty bad anxiety when left alone. He’s super social, and love people and dogs, but is still learning how to play games. The only way I can wear him out at the moment is by giving him friends to play with. I take him at least 3-5 times a week to my local dog park, but there’s never anyone else there! I’ve tried a couple others, but it’s the same problem. I’m in the Stafford area, but I’d be happy to travel if there were a busy park with other dogs somewhere. Anyone have any ideas? Edit: Thanks for all the suggestions, I’ll give them a try! submitted by /u/smashedhijack [link] [comments]
Flood Risk Areas
So now that I’ve been in Brisbane for a while, I’m starting to look at some property. Places like Chermside seem nice, but expensive for 650m2 plots with houses that need to be torn down (probably with asbestos). I’ve also come across a few places that are cheaper in surrounding suburbs that seem cheaper, but I checked Floodwise and it comes back to say they’re “High Risk” flood areas, though as far as I can tell they haven’t flooded in recent history. So is there anything you can do mitigate the flood risk on property? Building drainage or trenches or something? Or is it like trying to hold back the ocean? submitted by /u/BrissieMover [link] [comments]
