Are minimum EFTPOS amounts a scam?

There is a restaurant chain I go to in Brisbane which has a $20 EFTPOS/Card minimum. At one of their stores they just have a 2% surcharge instead. It’s Sushi Edo by the way. Howcome 99% of shops have NO minimum EFTPOS or surcharge (this is 2017 after all) but then the occasional store has this? Is it a scam? Isn’t each EFTPOS transaction included in their monthly plan or something (i.e. would each transaction still cost 20 cents or whatever, like it might’ve in the 90’s? Even still! 20 cents per transaction is nothing in the long run.) Furthermore…While I’m venting…There is a restaurant in West End that doesn’t even accept EFTPOS at all! Some Indian place off Boundary st. So they say to cross the road and withdraw money from the 7-11. No thank you. I’m not payind $2.80 (ATM fee) to have the right to buy from

UK.. Moving to Brisbane

I have 6.5K AUD saved, ready for the flights and accommodation until I find my feet. I’m going to be adding to this while I send my visa / passport off Hows employment in Brisbane?
