Stupid question: What do those CBD currency exchange workers do all day? How do any of them make a profit?

I’d say conservatively there’s at least 30 in the city, yet only a handful of times in the past year I’ve actually seen someone using any them. What do the people working there do all day, and how do any of them make a profit after paying rent and their employees? Thanks! submitted by /u/NaYeahMate [link] [comments]

How do those little shops in suburban areas afford to stay open?

I was stuck on the disgusting Northside the other day, and while travelling through the back streets around Chermside couldn’t help but notice a heap of crappy little shops all open for business, but not a customer in sight and nowhere for people to park anywhere nearby. How on earth do these places stay open? The rent would have to be a killer and while 10am on a Tuesday might not be the peak time for those guys, to see every single one completely empty doesn’t inspire confidence in a bustling trade. AMA request – someone who works in or owns one of those dodgy little shops? submitted by /u/theredkrawler [link] [comments]

Flatmates.com.au sucks

Counting down the days til my lease expires and I can leave my current shithole in Nundah. My lease expires at the end of May so I’ve been looking at my options and fantasising about moving in to somewhere that is actually nice. I’ve found a particular listing that would be ideal as it’s available around the time my lease expires but I have to pay a minimum of $25 just to be able to message the person and let him know I can take over his lease. The $25 is so I can upgrade my account to be able to send messages to ‘early bird’ listings I really can’t be fucked paying $25 just to send one message to someone. Any clever ways around this? The place I’ve seen is ideal; in a nice new apartment block on Melbourne street which is a massive improvement over Nundah. submitted by
