Watch repair.

Hi Brisbane, My grandfather passed away last year and my Dad has just started to go through his stuff. We found a lovely old wrist watch my grandfather wore through the war and I’d like to restore it to its former glory. It has a bit of rusting with some links possibly needing replacement and needs a good clean inside the mechanics – as it’s a wind up watch – and outside. Does anyone here have any recommendations for a good watch repairer? Google has only been partially helpful with a few places I’ll look into (Brisbane Watch Repair Centre and Timecraft Services) but any previous good experiences and no recommendations of Mister Mint would be helpful. Thanks! submitted by /u/speltdifferently [link] [comments]

Kingsford Smith Drive feels ridiculously slow

Over the Easter long weekend I was naturally extra vigilant about ensuring that I was doing 40 km/h along KSD. Which worked out well as there was a cop with a radar off a side street pulling people over. Seriously though, I can’t see why it wouldn’t hurt to at least push the speed up to 50 km/h. Seems a bit ridiculous that you can do 50 km/h down a residential side street that doesn’t have a speed limit sign, but a main road like KSD that has two lanes most of the time is limited to 40? Anyone have any idea why it’s been made so low when there are no active roadworks going on? submitted by /u/swanny246 [link] [comments]

In need of suggestions for places offering 'real' spicy food

So I’ll get to the point – I really like spicy food. The problem is that I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve ordered ‘extra, extra hot’ food only to be served something which is an abomination consisting of sweet chilli sauce or a disgusting sugar syrup. Alternatively, the food has been bland or very, very slightly spicy at best. I used to have a few places nearby which I liked to visit, but they all went out of business – possibly because people where I live dislike food that is spicier than ice-cream? Who knows? Anyway, I’m open to suggestions anywhere in the general vicinity of SE Queensland. Thank you for your time. submitted by /u/SirHolyCow [link] [comments]

Driving on the Brisbane busways??

Was just sitting at QUT Kelvin Grove waiting for a bus when an early 2000’s BMW came flying down the busway with a family inside This is probably the third or fourth time I’ve seen a non translink car just casually driving along the busway I’m not sure if people just get lost or are using it for a shortcut but wtf submitted by /u/brizburn [link] [comments]
