What happened to the walking man? (south east brisbane)

Hey guys, some of those on the south-east side (maybe around elsewhere) may have see the ‘walking man’ around. This dude would walk all day in blue, sleeveless overalls and was often see around coorparoo station in the arvo or in the morning. Was a common sight and those around my area all recognized him. Just wondering if anyone had seen him or knows of him or what his go is? cheers. submitted by /u/Kalista_Bot [link] [comments]

PSA: If you're turning right at traffic lights, you CAN go past the line and finish the turn on a yellow/red.

I don’t know if I’ve just had the displeasure of following people who don’t know the road rules lately, but I’ve been sat behind a lot of people who are turning right at traffic lights and will sit behind the line, the light turns yellow/red and I’m one car further away to being able to turn. You ARE allowed to move past the line (if it is safe), and if there isn’t a gap in the traffic until the lights turn yellow/red, you ARE allowed to complete the right turn! I realise this may be trivial to some people, I realise it is just one car, but it still annoys me. If the light is green and there are vehicles approaching from the opposite direction, you can move forward into the intersection past the stop line if you can do so safely. If there is a safe gap in oncoming

Does anyone know any elderly Filipino people that my partners Ninang can spend some time with?

My partner has her aunt (ninang) visiting for a few months but she only speaks Filipino (she understands a little English) and the only person that she can really talk to is my partner. So I was wondering if there were any Filipino’s out there that would like to spend some time with her? She is 79 and a bit deaf but she is pretty energetic for her age. We live out west but we would be willing to take her pretty much anywhere so she can have some time out of the house. Group activities would be good also. Listening devices in workplace

Hi Brisbane! Wondering if anyone is able to help with a query, or point me in the right direction. I’m wondering about the legality of listening devices in the workplace – I work in a small cafe and recently listening device was fitted to the side of the cafe by management that records even the slightest whisper inside the cafe. There is no seating inside, literally just two workers serving takeaway coffee, so conversations are either between two workers or to the customers. The workers have not be informed of this device by the workplace, and we would have no way of knowing had it not have been for the person who installed it that (far away from the cafe) voiced his concern to us. Just curious! We have nothing to hide but it’s always nice to have some privacy. submitted by /u/kiwikatieg [link] [comments]

Help flu-tracking study!

Flutracking is about to kick off again for 2017! Please help them increase monitoring Australia-wide with 1 in every 800 Australians participating in Flutracking in 2016. In 2017 they would really like to recruit another 3000 participants. Invite link and more information: http://www.flutracking.net/?inv1 They’re looking for big-hearted community-minded people who would be willing to give 10 seconds per week to help track the flu (and receive a weekly flu report and flu map in return). Doesn’t matter if you’ve had the flu jab or not. submitted by /u/Isle-of-View [link] [comments]

Best place for affordable used cars

Hello, My sister recently got downsized from her job in insurance here in Canada. I’m an airline pilot here so I suggested that I fly her to Brisbane and get her set up with a working holiday visa for the year while she uses up her severence. My airline goes to direct to Brisbane The idea would be that I would come in with her and get her a place to stay for a few months and pick her up a car then head back home. Time would be tight so I need to find a good used car lot where I can grab her a car hopefully for less than 7000 before I need to head home. Where would be the best place to do that in Your city? Thanks, E submitted by /u/AllClutch1 [link] [comments]
