Question about motorists using phones while not moving

Hey guys, before you read this, just wanted to clarify that Im not a licence holder but I commute on my bike everyday so I dont know all of the road rules. Only the basics to stay safe and legal. Now, I know that using phones while driving is absolutely illegal and dangerous. But what about when your vehicle is not moving? (other than being parked obviously). For example, at a traffic light, or waiting to turn left or right across the oncoming lane at an intersection? I sometimes knock on windows of cars with drivers using their phones when moving very slowly, (eg: edward street traffic lights can be a pain at peak times) and gesture to put it down but have been noticing more and more people using their phones while stationary too. I feel like its still a hazard because you need to be aware of your

Don't know if it's just me….

Currently looking for a new place to live after having enough of Nundah and it seems that generally rent has gone down quite a bit since I last looked. I’m currently sharing with others and paying $230 for a room in a three bedroom in Nundah. It seems with prices as they are at the moment that I’m paying way too much for the quality of the accommodation I’m in. I last looked six months ago, has the price of rent fallen quite a bit since then or is it just me? Just by looking on flatmates.com it seems I can get a much better room for cheaper than I could six months ago now. submitted by /u/magpie1862 [link] [comments]

Social piano group/club?

I’m in Brisbane for a year in exchange and am looking for ways to make friends in a comfortable environment. I pay piano, and was wondering if there is any group in Brisbane where one could play socially, or even something like a jazz appreciation club? submitted by /u/RingoGaSukiDesu [link] [comments]

Does brisbane still have street based prostitutes?

If so, where? I was chatting to an Uber driver the other day about it and he was saying that used to hang out down in the valley. About 6 years ago someone told me that use to hang out on one of those side streets off Brunswick Street like Kent St or something but over the years I’ve never seen anything. I’m not planning on using their services just morbidly curious. submitted by /u/Gatoblanconz [link] [comments]

Anyone see the QPS training exercise new Bowen Hills this morn?

Commuters travelling on trains through Bowen Hills this morning – please don’t be alarmed if you see some unusual activity in the rail yard. We are conducting a realistic-looking major training exercise today in conjunction with Queensland Rail, specifically focussed on ensuring the QPS is ready to respond to a terrorist incident. Police wish to reassure the community that there is no need to be alarmed if anyone sees train carriages on their side or a flurry of activity in the rail yard – this is all part of making sure that police are as prepared as possible to keep Queenslanders safe. submitted by /u/2193779 [link] [comments]

Question about pets in rental houses

Hey r/brisbane, It’s that time of the year when I need to look at moving places, but this time I’m hoping to be able to share custody of my 2 furkids from my previous marriage. They are very small dogs, and I would have them on/off, as we both would like time with them. Problem is, that my current partner has two dogs of his own, they are mid-size (two staffys). Our budget is anything between $400-$700 a week, and we would obviously like a house with a fair-sized yard. We’re also open to paying additional rent per week, or increased bond, if that helps with the dog thing. My question is around how best to explain the situation with applications? Should I: A) apply for places stating four dogs on the application B) apply for places stating two dogs full-time, two dogs part-time C) apply for places, stating two
