Hey r/Brisbane, do you have a story to tell?

So in the next few months I am looking to produce a short documentary under 10 minutes. For a million people there are a million stories, and I’m looking to create a film that resonates with audiences. I’m a film student studying documentary as a medium and want to help people tell stories that they think are important. I would like to work with sensitive subject matter, including stories from anything like tragedy, hardships, mental illness and disabilities to more heartwarming and interesting stories. I want to create a film that has heart at its centre. If you think you have an interesting or important story to tell, please leave a comment or PM me to set up further communications. Even if you think nobody would like your idea also put it out there! You never know who it will impact. If you skeptical or would like to know more

Looking for a copy of Versus Zine Issue 2

Has anyone seen a copy of Versus zine issue #2 floating around Brisbane at all? I’m super keen to get my hands on a copy, as my other half is a massive fan of The Living End, and this issue follows their recent national tour. I’ve tried Rocking Horse Records and Tym Guitars (both listed as stockists) but they know nothing about it. If anyone sees a copy and can point me to where it is, I’d be eternally grateful! submitted by /u/Yeahbutnaahh [link] [comments]

Is this a scam? – The Commonwealth Retirement Program phone call

Just received a phone call from someone saying they were from the Commonwealth Retirement Program. The guy was very cagey when I asked him a few simple questions. Apparently he wanted to help me with “redirecting my tax dollars” to plan for retirement. I asked him what type of organisation the Commonwealth Retirement Program was, and he said it wasn’t an organisation. It was an independent information service. Then he tried to get personal details so he could help me redirect my tax dollars. Anyone else had a call from the Commonwealth Retirement Program? And can you shed any light on it? submitted by /u/alpha1zeta [link] [comments]

People who fall for phone scams

I’ve had two calls from my “bank”, looking to confirm my details. Give me a break. I told them to send me a letter because I couldn’t verify they were legitimate and the guy instantly hung up. If people could stop falling for this sort of thing, the rest of us wouldn’t have our time wasted, how can anyone possibly fall for these scams? Also I need to stop answering the phone with “x speaking”, because it just gives them my first name. submitted by /u/Tovora [link] [comments]
