Completely random car fire.

http://i.imgur.com/GI7q2QY.png Really weird. Just came out of my room and suddenly fire visible in the park behind my house. Right in Joachim Street Park, where Birdwood Rd touches it by the freeway onramp in Holland Park West/Tarragindi. I called the fire guys and they got there within 4 minutes. I wonder what could have caused it… submitted by /u/evilparagon [link] [comments]

Happy Friday morning! STI question

Well at least I warned you, so you don’t read this first thing in the AM, before you’ve had your first cup of coffee and your daily dose of cynicism. So I’ve read this thread full of great info https://www.reddit.com/r/brisbane/comments/1y6qj6/sooooo_how_do_i_get_an_std_test/ but it doesn’t answer treatment options. And much like OP, I have just started a new job. Long story short, about 10 years ago I had a genital wart (yay slutty college years) got it froze off without issue, and now I have noticed another bump thats itchy… soooo ya I think I have another. Where I’m from, there’s dedicated clinics to testing and treatment and they are just walk in basis, which is great. It seems the clinics here are referral only. So can a GP treat this, or will I need to go to the GP and then get a referral? Prefer bulk bill / medicare, but if

Free/cheap stuff to do for a Brisbane virgin.

Me and my girlfriend are going to be in Brisbane for the weekend while waiting for some volunteer work to start nearby on Monday. We’re trying to save money so will be staying in the cheapest hostel we can find (any recommendations?) and would love to see what the city has to offer for as little as possible. Any free walks, museums etc. would be much appreciated. Also good, cheap places to eat. Hopefully the weather picks up as it’s been pretty wet the past few days. Thanks guys. submitted by /u/BAKEJENT [link] [comments]

Art show tonight: Another shameless self promotion, but for a good cause!

So, everyone here has been super supportive so far of art culture in Brisbane, and specifically, my art! So here I am, to tell you about another thing I’m participating in that is free to attend, that you might be interested in! The Jugglers Art Space (on Brunswick St in the Valley) is holding the opening night for their Asylum Seeker art show, with proceeds going to help house and support Asylum seekers. It concentrates not on the turmoil of what these people are fleeing from, but the idea that asylum is genuine thing many people seek in the wake of a dangerous world. It wants to highlight the reasons asylum seekers may come to Australia, and the ways in which we should react as a nation. Even if you don’t agree with either side of politics regarding this issue, this show is more about the people, not the policies.

Looking for Brisbane based Graphic Designers

My wife is getting started with a personal project, and needs to work with a talented Graphic Designer, preferably based in Brisbane, or can meet in Brisbane when needed. She looked online and messaged a few she found, but figured I’d post here, just in case some of you may be interested. “Hey! I need to develop 10+ posters. I will provide the text and need your ideas for designs to support and convey the message. Some will be live photos and some others vector images. I also want the source files and will hold all copy and distribution rights. This might be an ongoing project. Can you please give me an idea about your rate and how much each poster would cost?” Please feel free to PM me a link to some samples of your work, or post them as comments here. submitted by /u/lebanese_redditor [link] [comments]
