Military = Police = Shit outcome?

Anyone noticed that QLD police have started dressing like para-Military? When I was a kid, they were respectable guys in suits, TV ads about police beats [a route of walk] and making friends in the community – Now they look like guys ready to kick ass and take names. All about names… Not sure how nex generation will take this. It’s a concern. Some great suggestions lately out of USA how militarisation of police creates serious social problems, but worse that non lethal force results in unintended abuse/deaths [I.e. tasers are legally not supposed to be used unless as an alt. to lethal force] Anyone scared? What's your Queensland conspiracy theory story?

I get calls at my work from random members of the public and sometimes we get the real tin foil hat wearing citizens. So I want to know, what’s the craziest Qld conspiracy you’ve heard? Here’s one from today, relayed to me by a lady re: NRL The NQ Cowboys have been cheating in the NRL by rubbing some kind of chemical on their arms that causes the opponent to keel over in pain because it hurts their eyes etc. Also watch the replay from yesterday’s game, and you’ll notice that every time the Cowboys do a tackle some fellow Cowboy is blocking the tackle from view of the camera. Why? To hide their dirty chemical wiping from the viewers? And it’s also pretty obvious that JT doesn’t want to be involved in this because his happiness has dropped. PSA: Maxi Taxi Surcharge

Regarding Maxi Taxi hire in Brisbane, if you hail a maxi from the street or hire it from the rank, the $12 surcharge does not apply. It only applies to bookings of that specific vehicle type. I raise this as the previous 3 times I’ve used a maxi taxi from the rank, they have all tried to charge this fee. 2 of the 3 times resulted in the driver apologising and the surcharge was removed (although it was clear they knew exactly what they were doing trying to charge it). Most recently (today), a driver became abusive and insisted we pay the surcharge, which we obviously did not! I’ll report him to Black and White.
