Looking for work in a bank (entry level position) – any tips?

Hi! My partner is looking to work in a bank in Brisbane and has applied for a few jobs with different banks (ranging from the big banks to small banks). He has gotten to the interview stage for a few but hasn’t been successful yet. He is mainly going for bank teller/customer service jobs advertised. I know it’s not the best experience for this work but he has worked at McDonalds for 8+ years and has customer service experience in that regard. Does anyone have any tips for getting into these types of positions or other jobs (insurance/office work). He is ready to move on and is really interested in banking and finance and has started a business degree with OUA. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Inundated with bugs drawn to our lights in Newstead

We have just moved to a new apartment in Newstead which is awesome. However….. once the sun goes down there are small flying insects, similar to sandflies I guess, that are drawn to our lights. Now I know insects love lights. That is nothing new. However it is full on here with dozens of them eventually inundating our apartment around the lights. Being a brand new apartment the lights are brand new. I quite like the light they produce so don’t really want to replace them but I will if that is the only option. Maybe something less bright….? Otherwise, do any of those electric “Pestrol” type things actually work..? submitted by /u/Tuffywallace [link] [comments]

Cheap Place to Host a 21st

Hey guys, so I’m going to be 21 soon and would like somewhere to host a party where I don’t have to pay through the nose. Nothing formal and around 30-50 people. I always had field parties back home and I’m a little lost as to where people host parties in Brisbane (my one person flat is probably not an option for this sort of thing). I welcome any and all ideas, not looking to spend more than $200 (as an absolute maximum, would appreciate somewhere free/under $100 if possible). Cheers! submitted by /u/sellingmagikarp [link] [comments]
