looking for a new landlord

Greetings Brisbane Redditors, We’re two middle-aged non-smoking Melbournites with no pets planning to move to Brisbane in Dec or Jan. We’re not familiar with Brisbane but Manly looks attractive with access to PT and the water. (We have a trailer sailer.) According to Domain and Realestate websites we can get a 2-3 br house with AC, ceiling fans, 2 car parks and under cover storage for a boat on a trailer (7mts overall) for about $400/wk. Is this realistic? Are there other avenues besides Domain and Realestate to search? I’ve never rented through a realestate office before. I’ve rented from the same landlord for 15 years so will have an excellent reference. I work in IT, my wife is a English teacher. We both like sailing and small boat building. Any advice or opinions much appreciated! Thank You submitted by /u/Gladtis [link] [comments]

Abandoned houses/lots in Wooloongabba/East Brisbane?

Always wondered why there’s so many abandoned/poorly maintained houses and blocks in the region, much much more as compared to other suburbs? I guess the type with peeling pain and a really overgrown lawn. Also I don’t think these are due to being used for property developments due to the sheer number of them as well as how long they’ve been there for, some also seem to be occupied as well just in a terrible condition.
