What's the logic behind keeping people out of venues? (bars and clubs etc)

With the introduction of lockouts and compulsary ID scanning etc I’m just wondering what is the logic behind keeping people out of venues late at night? Seems like most if not all of these coward punch deaths the government is responding to happen out on the street in public rather than in a venue, so it appears counter productive having thousands of drunk people roaming the streets unable to go anywhere late at night in places like the Valley, instead of being inside a venue with it’s own security and bouncers etc This isn’t meant to be a criticism or anything I’m just sure I’m not the only one who’s thought of this and I’m curious to know what the argument for it is submitted by /u/John-Matrix [link] [comments]
