Driving from Brisbane to Darwin – anyone done this drive and recommendation on where to stop?

Hi all, I’ll be visiting Darwin for a month in June and driving from Brisbane city and would love to hear from anyone who has done this drive. I’m not looking to do any sight seeing on the drive as I’ll do that on the way home in July. I’m hoping to do about 10 hours of driving a day with about 2 hours overall for quick breaks to stretch legs etc. I was hoping for recommendations on places I’ll be able to stop for the night to sleep. For the first stop I was thinking Augathella, Tambo, or Blackall (QLD). For the 2nd stop Mt Isa or surrounds (QD). For the 3rd stop Elliot or Newcastle Waters (this stop is the one I’m the most unsure of as it says Newcastle Waters has some private / restricted roads going by google maps) and I have no familiarity with the
