So now that I’ve been in Brisbane for a while, I’m starting to look at some property. Places like Chermside seem nice, but expensive for 650m2 plots with houses that need to be torn down (probably with asbestos). I’ve also come across a few places that are cheaper in surrounding suburbs that seem cheaper, but I checked Floodwise and it comes back to say they’re “High Risk” flood areas, though as far as I can tell they haven’t flooded in recent history. So is there anything you can do mitigate the flood risk on property? Building drainage or trenches or something? Or is it like trying to hold back the ocean? submitted by /u/BrissieMover [link] [comments]
