Mowing a cricket pitch in a council park.

Right, so got some mates coming round next week for a couple days before NYE, and we fancy a bit of a one day test down the park. The park in question is a large oval, away from the road, walking access only, but no cricket pitch on it. Hypothetically, how much trouble might we find ourselves in if we were to get caught after wheeling a mower down and mowing a pitch into the grass? I wouldn’t mow it so short as to kill the grass or expose dirt, just short enough so we can get a bit of bounce, and so we can easily get the vintage gray nicholls stumps from the shed into the grass. Are we talking a chuckle, and a stern ‘don’t do that again?’ – or are we going to be looking at a charge of defacing council property and a hefty fine? I
