I’ll be moving to Brisbane in July for work for a minimum 2-year assignment. Around the same time my SO (a General Surgeon) will be finishing up her fellowship in Bariatric / Minimally Invasive Surgery. We’ve done a fair bit of research and already started some of the process, specifically registration with the Australian Medical Council and certification of her education credentials. What we really need help with is finding and contacting an actual employer. We’ve looked into a few recruitment agencies, but it’s quite difficult to gauge the quality of these places from a website. Also, there seems to be a catch-22 in that some of these recruiters require the Australia Health Practitioner Registration Agency number, which I don’t think we can get until there’s an actual job offer and we can apply to the Medical Board of Australia.
